Last week, Harper Meyer proudly participated in the eleventh annual Patently Impossible fundraising event benefiting Dade Legal Aid, an organization dedicated to providing free civil legal representation to low-income individuals, startups, and inventors. The event brought together members of the intellectual property community for a day of spirited competition, connection, and charitable giving.

Hosted at the Miami-Dade College Business Innovation and Technology Center, this year’s challenge invited participants to assemble a patented invention from a mix of randomized parts. The goal was to spark creativity while raising funds and awareness for Dade Legal Aid’s mission.

Inspired by the challenge, Harper Meyer Associate Francisco Martinez Diaz-Granados took the opportunity to turn imagination into action, transforming a scattered set of components into a functioning motorized vehicle. With guidance from Associates Victoria Moreno Pabón and Blake Bierman, and the support and cheers from Partners James Meyer and Jeff Hagen, the team worked through each stage with focus and collaboration, determined to bring their design to life. Their persistence paid off when the vehicle not only came together but successfully crossed the finish line to cheers from colleagues and partners who were there to support them.

Beyond the friendly competition, the event served as a meaningful reminder of what the legal community can achieve when it comes together for a greater purpose. Through initiatives like this, Dade Legal Aid has successfully recruited dozens of pro bono IP, patent, and trademark attorneys who help make creativity and innovation more accessible to those facing financial obstacles.

Harper Meyer is honored to support Dade Legal Aid’s mission and proud of the creativity, teamwork, and heart our colleagues brought to the day.
