On November 14, Harper Meyer Partner Otavio Carneiro and Law Clerk Tamires Frasson attended the “Brazilian Lawyers in Miami: Path to Success” panel hosted by the University of Miami School of Law’s Brazilian Law Student Association.

Otavio, a featured speaker of the event, holds law degrees in Brazil and the United States and has practiced law extensively in Brazil and Florida. Through his extensive experience, he had the direct opportunity to share with law students and former law school colleagues the unique opportunities and challenges present in the Miami market for international students with a civil law background. He touched on the competitive environment, the importance of attorneys fluent in Portuguese for the growing Brazilian business community, career opportunities for international students, and the importance of resilience and strategic planning while still at law school as a path for a successful career. Otavio offered valuable professional advice on adapting to these challenges by emphasizing the need for specialization and cultivating a robust and supportive network.
